Awareness Week

NEDAwareness Week is the nation’s largest eating disorders outreach effort. During this week, which is the last week in February every year, activists across the country partner with NEDA to bring awareness to the seriousness of eating disorders and urge people to Be Comfortable In Your Genes. Wear Jeans That Fit the TRUE  You. NEDAwareness Week events are held at K-12 schools, colleges, hospitals, churches, fitness centers, corporate offices and community centers.  These interactive and educational events consist of anything from panel discussions to fashion shows, theatre performances, Great Jeans Giveways to movie screenings.

Each year these events attract nationwide public and media attention to eating disorders and the pressures, attitudes and behaviors that may contribute to them.  Volunteer coordinators take part every year, reaching millions of people with messages to promote healthy body image, balanced eating and the seriousness of eating disorders.
